Champions - Max Manavi-Huber

In February 2022, photographer Max Manavi-Huber travelled to Iten, Kenya, 2,400 metres up in the Great Rift Valley and home to many of the country's world-class distance runners. Working with just a notebook, 30 rolls of Portra 400 film and a vintage Mamiya RB67, he documented the everyday life behind one of the world's most successful running cultures.

The resulting book captures the unfiltered rural life of this part of East Africa, where running is deeply embedded in daily life and continues to produce champions. The film was processed and scanned in Germany at Safelight Berlin, and the images were hand-printed in Paris by Lucas De L'Estang.
